We’re ready to welcome residents at a former Corte Madera motel that has been converted into an attractive affordable housing program with 18 small apartments. Our newest housing program will allow people who have endured repeat bouts of homelessness to realize their dreams of home.
The renovation work added kitchenettes for each apartment, created a community room, installed new fences and professional landscaping, and replaced the roof. Our staff has begun meeting with prospective residents to talk about the housing program and tour the units that will be occupied in the coming weeks.
Our new housing program needs a name and we’re looking for your input. Got an idea? Email us with your name suggestion by May 10. If you provide the winning name, you’ll receive a $100 gift certificate to Marin Joe’s!
Help Furnish a New Future
We’ve created a wish list of items needed to welcome people into their new homes. If you want to contribute, just order items from the list and choose the shipping option. They’ll be shipped to Homeward Bound before the move-in date.
This property at 1591 Casa Buena Drive (next to Marin Joe’s Restaurant) offered the rare opportunity to revitalize a building within Marin’s existing structural landscape and increase the supply of critically needed affordable housing. Rents will be set at one-third of income to remain within reach for all tenants.
Our onsite staff will be available to connect residents with medical care, transportation, and public benefits, and organize community activities like credit repair workshops or holiday celebrations. A nourishing meal will be delivered nightly from Homeward Bound’s culinary team.
The renovations were completed with partnership from the County of Marin, which purchased the site using funds from the state’s Project Homekey initiative. The program is one of the first such permanent supportive housing communities to open in California with Project Homekey support.
