Students started their hands-on training in mid-November at Fresh Starts Culinary Academy, marking the relaunch of our award-winning program after a pause caused by the pandemic emergency.

In the first week of training, all students earned Food Handler certification and learned basic kitchen operations. From this point, they will attend in uniform every day to learn core skills in food preparation, earn ServSafe certification and receive related instruction for professional development.

Our 10-week course pairs culinary basics and front-of-house service to prepare students for a range of employment in the busy food industry. Eligible students enroll at no cost for this program, which is approved by the American Culinary Federation.

Fresh Starts Culinary Academy offers job placement assistance for graduates. In the most recent year of operation, 84 percent of students completing the course secured employment within 30 days. The next class will begin in early 2022; prospective students can apply online at any time.
