A community workshop set for Aug. 15 has been postponed, but we invite you to learn about progress in our efforts to develop housing and expand space for supportive employment ventures in the Hamilton area of Novato. The community workshop will be rescheduled soon – stay tuned for details.

Homeward Bound proposes 25 units of supportive housing for homeless veterans and 25 units of workforce housing for the 2.8-acre site known as the “HUD parcel.” The conceptual plans include a manufacturing kitchen for Wagster Treats, the gourmet dog biscuits produced by Homeward Bound, and a 200-person event venue.

The proposed development will expand successful housing and social enterprise programs at the adjacent property, which houses the training kitchen for Fresh Starts Culinary Academy, and the Next Key Apartments. By adding the units designated for veterans, Homeward Bound estimates Marin can be one of the first counties in the state to effectively end veteran homelessness.

Novato officials have granted Homeward Bound the exclusive rights to negotiate development of parcel, which would be leased to Homeward Bound for $1 per year for 99 years.
