A fresh coat of paint means our Family Center can show off what community partnership has accomplished for Marin’s only shelter for homeless families.
Over the few months, this place of welcome received several less visible upgrades for plumbing, cooling, windows and sewer line. We installed a new roof along with solar panels.
The building now is more efficient and entirely electric, including induction stoves in the main kitchen. All this is quite a change for the property that opened in 1974 for four families as well as the first office for Homeward Bound of Marin.
Our nine-room shelter in San Rafael has welcomed families continuously ever since, thanks to community support. Last year, 89% of families leaving our programs moved to stable housing. We’re ready now to serve more people moving forward for years to come!
