A once-in-50-years celebration brought together a full house of community heroes to celebrate our special anniversary year. The evening of fun, food and philanthropy on Sunday, Sept. 22, raised almost $500,000 to support the transition of working families and individuals into the 50 new homes being finished at our Novato campus.
Our event included a live auction for extraordinary prizes like dinner with Chef Roland Passot in his home or 50 chocolate truffles handmade by Co-Chief Executive Officer Mary Kay Sweeney and topped with edible gold leaf. The entertainment also included live jazz and a Hog Island Oyster bar.
Speakers like Denna Harvey spotlighted the way our programs can open paths to new possibilities, telling guests about her journey from our housing and culinary training to a career as dietary manager for a nursing home. Our banner year has been a milestone for Denna too, who recently purchased a home of her own!
We’re grateful for the champions who filled the Mill Valley Community Center to toast 50 years of partnership that have lifted up families, seniors, veterans and others transitioning out of homelessness. We’re more excited than ever to look forward to the next five decades of bringing people home!
