Serve Dinner at Jonathan’s Place
Meals at Jonathan's Place
Homeward Bound of Marin is seeking individuals or two-person teams to help serve the evening meal at Jonathan’s Place shelter in San Rafael. Jonathan’s Place is the county’s only year-round emergency shelter for adults and accommodates 38 adults every day. Your helping hands not only dish up food, but also represent a caring connection with the local community.
We invite you to help on a regular basis or just sign up as often as you can. You will assist with set-up and light food prep for meals delivered by partner organizations or Homeward Bound’s culinary team.
Volunteers will help create a welcoming atmosphere for diners and assist with light cleanup. To participate in our kitchen, you need to:
- Use knives and kitchen equipment safely
- Lift and carry food or supplies (25 lbs. or more)
- Be comfortable standing and moving during the shift
- Know basic cooking and kitchen safety skills
- Be reliable and respectful with staff and diners
Volunteers must be 16 or older.
To sign up, please visit our page at SignUp Genius to choose your date and fill in your details. The Community Engagement Coordinator will contact you for a brief phone interview and send you the Volunteer Application before your first shift.
