Student Volunteer Groups
Learn and give back
Homeward Bound of Marin welcomes middle and high school student groups for engaging service-learning experiences that combine community education with meaningful volunteer involvement. These include organizing a donation drive for essential items like toiletries and bedding, or hands-on activities like making cards for program participants.
A typical visit for student volunteer groups includes:
- A 30-minute presentation introducing Homeward Bound’s mission, programs, and impact in the community.
- A 30-minute guided tour of the main Novato campus, providing students with an opportunity to learn about the services offered and the people served.
Groups that organize a donation drive can combine this engaging one-hour visit with delivery of items collected for adults and families experiencing homelessness.
Student groups interested in a hands-on service project can collaborate with our staff to tailor an activity for the group that makes a difference in our programs. These extended volunteer experiences can last up to three hours and offer students a tangible way to contribute to the people we serve.

Please note: an adult contact (i.e., teacher, school administrator or parent volunteer) must serve as the primary organizer and liaison for student group activities.
