Progress made by struggling young families show our program offering early support for parents aged 18 to 24 years old can strengthen their futures.

Supported by the Tipping Point Community, our program for families headed by “Transition Age Youth” served 64 people in the 2024-25 year, with 84% achieving stable housing. A full 100% maintained or increased income during the year.

Program Coordinator Larry Jean reaches out to these parents as soon they contact our family shelter or a partner agency refers them. He supports them with pressing needs like benefits or employment options even if they haven’t yet moved to a shelter room.

Families have asked his guidance to apply for food assistance, housing placements and driver’s licenses. He also helps them sort employment and education options. “My role is helping all the families see a future for themselves,” Larry adds. “Helping them get that first win.” Read more about the program from our Spring-Summer News.
