Meet George, John and Jack in a new video that marks the opening of Puett Place, our new veterans community.
California Housing and Community Development joined us at the event and created the video to showcase this project, which launched with key funding from the state.
With veteran homelessness a strong focus in California, Puett Place received a $3 million grant from the state’s Veterans Housing and Homelessness Prevention Program. Projects that qualify for this program must target extremely low-income residents earning no more than 30% of Area Median Income.
In addition, the state provided $14.4 million from its Project Homekey program to support completion of the veterans community and the workforce housing still under construction on our site.
The workforce housing, expected to be substantially finished this year, offers 26 apartments to families and adults working eight or more hours in our community. Together this work will achieve a milestone goal to open 50 homes to celebrate our 50th anniversary year!
With your help, we have raised $35.4 million of $36 million to finish our work on this vital housing plus a new job-training and events center. Make a gift online to help us down the home stretch of funding or send a check with “50 Homes” in the memo line.
