This year’s state budget sets aside $4 million for our new veterans housing community in Novato, an amazing boost toward ending veteran homelessness in Marin!
The allocation means most funds have been raised toward the estimated $12 million cost of building 24 apartments for unhoused veterans next to our Novato headquarters. Based on knowledge of local veterans experiencing homelessness, we believe this community can offer a place for everyone.
Housing for veterans will be Phase 1 of a larger plan that includes 26 small apartments for adults and families transitioning out of homelessness and joining the workforce. An expanded production space for culinary social enterprises will be part of the site.
Exterior design for the site received approval in January from Novato’s Design Review Board. We look forward to continuing the review process toward starting work in late 2022.
