For 30 years, Robert B. was homeless in downtown San Rafael. Occasionally he made use of Homeward Bound shelter services or other local resources, but the challenges of mental illness were a recurring barrier to stable housing.

Robert, a Marin native, now is one of the 90+ people that have been housed through the new coordinated entry program that brings together various agencies to focus on outreach and solutions for people who have been chronically homeless. Take a moment for “Robert’s Story,” the new video that shows how this teamwork approach is leading to successful outcomes.

Robert’s sister Grace, who has acted as his guardian angel at many points in his journey, says the community network made the vital difference in creating stability for her brother and bringing a smile to his face. We’re grateful to our partners in forging avenues for lasting positive change: Buckelew Programs, Downtown Streets Team, City of San Rafael, the Marin Health & Human Services Department, Marin Housing Authority and St. Vincent de Paul.
