Homeward Bound of Marin received a great honor to kick off 2019 with recognition for Achievement in Nonprofit Excellence at the 26th annual Heart of Marin Awards, which were announced on Thursday, Jan. 10.  The awards are presented by the Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership, with sponsorship from the Bank of Marin and the Marin Independent Journal.

Homeward Bound was one of 20 local nonprofits nominated for the award, which spotlights an organization that has “demonstrated exemplary service to their constituents.” Executive Director Mary Kay Sweeney notes, “We were in exceptionally good company with our Marin nonprofit peers, and we appreciate all that CVNL does to highlight the good work being done throughout the county. To win this award is a great honor and a reflection of the hard work done by every one of our staff, our volunteers, our community partners and the individuals who find a path out of homelessness through our programs.”

Nugget Markets sponsored the award, which came with a $5,000 contribution to our programs. Homeward Bound of Marin last was recognized by the Heart of Marin Awards in 2013, when the event honored Fresh Starts Culinary Academy for Excellence in Innovation.
